Cross words

Hurr hurr...didja see whut ah did thur? Cross words? Daniel Fucking Cross?

While pootling around Twitter this afternoon I stumbled across a link to a review of By the Book from Robin L. Rotham. I knew it would be favourable when she tweeted that she 'LOVED this book!' but, well, check out these quotes:
Those of you who read my sporadic posts know that I rarely make book recommendations. But every once in a while I read a book that just won't let go of me, that makes me say "God, I wish I could write like that!" -- a book that makes me feel I'm doing my friends a disservice by not recommending it.

By the Book by Scarlett Parrish is just such a book.
And:
The writing was absolutely lovely. The conflict unfolded so naturally, and the action and dialogue were so true to the characters that, although I was dying to know how it all turned out, I couldn't make myself skip a single word. (And that's saying something because I'm a champion skimmer.)
So I'm more than happy with this review, not least because Robin's multi-published with one of the 'Big 5', the five biggest/most prestigious e-publishers out there. (Yep, Loose Id is on that list, but I'm not multi-published there. Yet).

What else? Well, Plus One is now available in print, much sooner than expected. I received my royalties statement for January from Loose Id (no, I won't be discussing specifics in public) and I'm a chapter and a bit away from being done with my vampire novel.

So a pretty good day for me, all round!

Oh sod it, one more quote from the review (a link to which I have added to the appropriate page, above); why not? (Bolding mine):
Daniel (*fainting sigh over Daniel* I think only Scarlett Parrish could make me believe guyliner is the most intriguing thing ever) was an enigma to Reece throughout most of the book, and yet much of that was a result of Reece's own insecurity and inability to let go of his old expectations. Even though Reece was telling the story, it was like I could see in his words what he couldn't--the vulnerability hiding behind Daniel's swaggering veneer.

  3. Bettielee, you can silently judge me all you like, but this was an attempt at a serious post. The presence of Dick would detract from that.

Melanie, glad you're enjoying it. :D My posts are usually a bit more sweary and nonsensical than this one, though. And I post a lot of mancandy. Just as, er...inspiration.

    *cough*

    Okay, I'm a perv.
