Back to work

I've set myself a ridiculously ridiculous target for finishing Family Jewels. It's taken me a year to write 37k words of this work-in-progress, which needs around about the same number of words again to reach 'the end' according to MS Excel.

I've decided I'm going to finish it in a week.

Of course, when I say it's taken me a year to write that much, I mean I started the book a year ago. The work was spread over but twenty-three days, the last time I worked on it being last December, so it would be closer to the truth to say "37k written in twenty-three days spread over six months."

There's a chance I could bring it in around the 65-70k mark. A few of the scenes I've listed in the outline might not be entirely necessary, or at least could be incorporated into other chapters in a shortened form. I've read over what I have so far, and I like it. I like it a lot. I've just had the weekend to myself to dick around with other projects (of which more anon) and read and loaf about the place, but now it's Monday, and it's time to get back to work.
